The vehicle registration certificate contains weight details
I will explain it here in a short way so that you can get the information in a simple way
Weight terminology
- Service weight: Tjänstevikt : An empty car, including the driver, weighs approximately 70 kilograms.
- Maximum load: Max last : The maximum permissible load according to the vehicle registration certificate.
- Mass weight: Totalvikt : Actual service weight + maximum load.
- Temporary weight: Bruttovikt : Weight at a certain time if your vehicle is loaded, this is temporary.
Service weight: If you want to calculate the weight of the car, you must calculate the weight of the driver with the car
It is not calculated as an additional load, but rather the weight of the car is calculated and includes the weight of the driver.
The maximum load is only what you are allowed to load into your car
If you are allowed to load 600 kilograms
This means only 600 kilograms, and you are not entitled to load more than that, and this includes the load and passengers, or one of them.
The total weight means the service weight + the maximum load weight
For example, if the service weight is 1,100 kilograms and the load is 400 kilograms, the total becomes 1,500 kilograms.
The temporary total weight, which means the service weight and the weight temporarily present in the car
For example, if the weight of the service is 1000 kilograms and you load items into the car
With a weight of 350 kilograms, the temporary total weight becomes 1350 kilograms.
Towing a light trailer
You can tow a light trailer with a category B driving licence.
Trailers whose total weight does not exceed 750 kilograms
It is considered a light trailer that you can tow with your car and a B driving license only
If the trailer’s total weight exceeds 750 kilograms
You cannot withdraw it if you only have a B driving license, but you must have a BE driving license.
What trailer is considered light?
All trailers weighing no more than 750 kg
Or a trailer in which the total weight of the car + trailer is a maximum of 3.5 tons
Pressure gauge
Radial pressure is the pressure produced by the trailer on the head of the vehicle’s tow lever.
The pressure on the radius should be between 40 and 100 kilograms.
High pressure on the spoke is caused by a large load at the front of the trailer
Which puts pressure on the radius downward and negatively affects the car and its front tires
It becomes high in the front and back, and the (normal) light also becomes dazzling to others due to the height of the car in the front
See the illustration
Low radial pressure
Low radial pressure has a significant impact on the vehicle’s properties
Also, it is caused by the load being in a late part of the trailer and not in the front, and when the load is placed in a late part of the trailer.
It presses the rear of the trailer downward, which makes the pressure on the radius insufficient and immoderate and pulls it upward due to the force of pressure at the rear of the trailer.
Which is caused by the load and causes a lack of grip in the rear tires of the car
See the illustration
To get rid of the problems of high or low radius pressure, you must distribute the load appropriately and well
You must secure the load well so that it does not move from its place for any reason
Trailer brakes
- Trailers weighing more than 750 kilograms must be equipped with brakes
- A trailer whose actual service weight exceeds 400 kilograms must have a parking brake.
