31- Fuel and its types
In this lesson, you will find a simplified and easy definition of the different types of fuel, what is produced and what they contain, in addition to the percentage of gas emissions from each category.
Gasoline fuel
- Gasoline fuel is the most commonly used fuel for motor vehicles.
- It consists of fossil fuels that contribute to increasing the so-called greenhouse effect and contribute to climate change.
- Gasoline fuel sold in Sweden is environmentally friendly.
- It must be relatively purified or filtered from harmful substances to the environment.
- The octane number indicates the fuel’s ability to resist rapid combustion.
- Gasoline fuel is sold in Sweden with 95, 98 and 99 octane. It is recommended to use octane 95.
Diesel fuel
- Diesel fuel is a fossil fuel that contributes to the so-called greenhouse effect and contributes to climate change.
- Diesel fuel sold in Sweden is environmentally class 1.
- It must be relatively purified or filtered from harmful substances to the environment.
- Diesel-powered vehicles produce more hazardous particulate matter than gasoline-powered vehicles, which are dangerous and cause health problems.
Gas emissions from a diesel engine compared to a gasoline engine and a car with a catalytic filter
- It produces two to three times more hydrocarbon.
- It produces ten to fifteen times more suspended particles.
- Produces a greater percentage of nitrogen oxide.
Ethanol E85
- Environmentally friendly and produces less carbon dioxide.
- It releases fewer hazardous particles than other gasoline and diesel vehicles.
- It is extracted from grains, plants and sugar cane which are renewable energy sources.
Hybrid car
- It has two engines, one fuel-powered and the other electric.
- Economical and very environmentally friendly.
- Do not consume fuel while driving at low speeds and within cities.
- It contains its own battery that can be charged or charged automatically while driving
